ProRigs Lighting Showcase

These lighting projects were developed for ProRigs as part of their official asset showcase.

Expressive and Efficient

Each scene was designed to highlight the rigs’ flexibility across a range of lighting conditions — from natural daylight to cinematic night environments — with careful attention to color temperature, light falloff, and atmosphere.

The setups were built to be both visually expressive and production-efficient, allowing other artists to seamlessly switch between day and night configurations. Each lighting rig was designed to support easy character integration, maintaining consistent illumination and mood with only minimal adjustments required.

Heart of the House

The living room serves as the heart of the house — a stage for light and atmosphere to shape story and emotion.

Reference

Given the freedom to choose my own reference, I selected an image that guided both the lighting and camera composition.

Different as Night and Day

From composition to lighting, each of the six iterations tell a new story.

A calm, sunlit space by day transforms into a warm, cinematic scene by night.

Jungle Adventure

A wild tangle of light and shadow — where sunlight sneaks through the leaves and every color feels alive.

Reference - Day

Reference - Night

The jungle day lighting was based on a provided reference. During review, Michal (the boss) initially mistook my final render for the original reference image — a moment that perfectly captured the success of the piece.

Once he realized he had been trying to “fix” the reference, and that the work he wanted to emulate was actually mine, he was thrilled--as was I!

The night version wasn’t a one-to-one match to the reference, so I focused on translating its visual tone — matching the color balance, atmosphere, and depth through careful light placement and subtle temperature shifts.

The goal was to preserve the mystery and stillness of the jungle at night without losing the readability of the forms.

Beneath the Canopy

Sunlight filters through a thick canopy, scattering into golden beams and soft green reflections. The air feels alive — every leaf catching a shimmer of light, every shadow layered with depth. It’s bright, humid, and full of motion, a balance between chaos and calm.

As daylight fades, the jungle transforms into a world of silhouettes and soft glows. Moonlight slips between branches, cool and silvery, while faint reflections bring life back to the darkness. The sounds grow louder, the colors fade, and the atmosphere becomes quietly mysterious.

Where warmth meets routine — the kitchen glows with the quiet rhythm of daily life, from the first light of morning to the hush of evening.

The Blushing Cottage

Can’t help but glow when the sunlight says hello.

SchoolHouse Rock

The classroom soaks up the morning sun, leaving the hallway to daydream in its florescent glow.

Tools

All lighting and rendering were completed directly in Autodesk Maya, without any compositing or post-processing. Every look adjustment — from balance to atmosphere — was achieved in-scene, relying purely on the lighting setup to carry the final image.
